It was an exciting afternoon on the beach as chicks from Nest 1 began to hatch! We have not yet confirmed how many hatched, but at least two fluffy chicks were seen at the nest. Once out of the egg, they are immediately mobile and active. This evening, one adventurous chick began exploring its new surroundings and wandering outside the exclosure. Meanwhile the father of these chicks, Flag Boy, was seen carefully transporting shells away from the nest, while the female sat on the remaining eggs and allowed her new babies to brood under her feathers.

Update: Four chicks have successfully hatched from Nest 1!
