What a great morning! Three Piping Plover Volunteer Monitors headed to the beach at 9:15 this morning to spend perhaps 30 minutes with a class of grade 4, 5 and 6’ers. The kids were eager to share their knowledge of the Piping Plover and its habitat. They also wanted to share their “hearts”. We set up the scopes and watched a very sedate plover on the nest.

Students were proudly wearing their Plover Lover t-shirts on Tuesday at the school. They have been using the endangered Piping Plover as a topic to enhance and make relevant social studies, art and science at their school. A contest among the students selected the design. Watch for these “walking billboards” as they visit the beach or shop in their community
