The difficulty with Piping Plover nesting on busy beaches is their amazing ability to blend in! Luckily most beachgoers won’t have to struggle with this each day, with active and engaging volunteers pointing the endangered species out to them while on the beach. Always a good idea to keep your eyes open though! You never know where you might spot a plover, especially during migration.
Remember to report your sightings, especially in the spring during migration. For known nesting beaches, please be respectful and diligent — walk along the wet portions of the beach and avoid lingering in areas where plovers may be setting up nests/territories.
